Croatia: Zagreb

Zagreb is the capital and the largest city of Croatia. Zagreb is the cultural, scientific, cinematic, economic and governmental center of the Republic of Croatia. It is situated between the southern slopes of the Medvednica mountain and both northern and southern bank of the Sava river. The name Zagreb appears to have been recorded in 1094, although its origin is unknown.

Philippines: Rice Terraces, Batad

In the fastness of the Cordillera mountains, 250-km north of Manila, Ifugao tribespeople have carved a livelihood from bare rock. Over the centuries, generations of Ifugao have laid stone after stone constructing dikes to hold back what little soil washed off the mountainsides creating vertical gardens that rise as "stairways to the heavens." 

Rice terraces are common throughout Asia but nowhere are they as spectacular as in the rugged mountains of northern Luzon.

В Кордильерах, в 250 км к северу от Манилы, люди племен Ифугао научились добывать себе средтва к существованию с голого камня.. Столетиями поколения Ифугао выкладывали камень за камнем, сооружая барьеры, способные задерживать ту малость плодородной почвы, смываемую с гор, создавая вертикальные сады, которые возносились как "лестница в небеса".

Рисовые террасы достаточно распространены в Азии, но лишь здесь они настолько эффектны, как и горы северного Лузона.

Caernarfon is a royal town in Gwynedd, northwest Wales. The name comes from Welsh Caer yn Arfon = "castle in Arfon", referring to the Roman fort named Segontium. Caernarfon is the traditional county town of the historic county of Caernarfonshire. The town is best known for its great stone castle, built by Edward I of England. This castle is one of those who complete one of the UK's UNESCO WHS.

The Royal Liver Building is a part of the Liverpool's UNESCO WH Maritime Mercantile City. Opened in 1911, the building is the purpose-built home of the Royal Liver Assurance group, which had been set up in the city in 1850 to provide locals with assistance related to losing a wage-earning relative. One of the first buildings in the world to be built using reinforced concrete, the Royal Liver Building stands at 90 m tall and was until the construction of St. John's Beacon in 1965, the tallest building in the city.

France: Le Havre. St Joseph Church

Le Havre is a city in the northwest region of France situated on the right bank of the mouth of the Seine River. The city was founded in 1517, when it was named Franciscopolis after Francis I of France, and subsequently named Le Havre-de-Grâce ("Harbor of Grace"). Le Havre simply means the harbour or the port. Its construction was ordered to replace the ancient harbours of Honfleur and Harfleur whose utility had decreased due to silting. The city was almost destroed during WW2 and now Le Harve is UNESCO WHS.

St Joseph's Church is a 107-metre tall Romano Catholic church which construction began in 1951, and ended in 1957. Some interpret its gloomy, neo-Gothic interior as a memorial to the five thousand civilians who died in Le Havre during a Nazi siege.

Around the city there are a series of interconnected lakes and unique cultural landscapes, in particular the parks and palaces of Sanssouci, the largest World Heritage Site in Germany.

Austria: Vienna. St Stephen's Cathedral.

St. Stephen's Cathedral  is the mother church of the Archdiocese of Vienna and the seat of the Archbishop of Vienna. Its current Romanesque and Gothic form seen today, situated at the heart of Vienna, Austria in the Stephansplatz,  and stands on the ruins of two earlier churches, the first being a parish church consecrated in 1147. As the most important religious building in Austria's capital, the cathedral has born witness to many important events in that nation's history and has become one of the city's most recognizable symbols.
