Lithiuania: Panevėžys

Another card arrived from Anna.

Panevėžys is the fifth largest city in Lithuania. It was first mentioned in 1503. Alexander II is  considered the founder of the city. The city lies on the both banks of the Nevėžis River. The city name means "along the Nevėžis." Throughout the 16th century, the city maintained a status of a Royal town.

Паневежис - пятый по величине город в Литве. Впервые город упоминается в 1503 г. основателем города считается Александр II. Город располагается на обоих берегах реки Невежис, отсюда и название - вдоль Невежиса. На протяжении 16 ст. город приобретает статус Королевского.

На открытке изображены: скульптура "Легенда", скульптура "Земля-Мать-Мир", Городской муниципалитет, Церковь и Городская площадь.
